The city of Aarhus is represented in the top divisions of many different sports. The football, handball and basketball teams deserve special attention, but the city also hosts large events within a number of other sports.
The NRGi Arena and Stadium has been and continues to be the setting for many large sports events such as top handball matches, international football matches, European and World Cup dancing, and the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
The large National Equestrian Sports Centre, Vilhelmsborg, has also hosted World Cup Dressage and many large equestrian events.
Aarhusian football clubs also host the annual Football Festival Denmark, which has become a major Scandinavian youth football tournament.
